Stepping onto the Vancouver ice for the first time was a wonderment for Bollos de Trueno.  He set expectations on himself to the highest level and it didn’t take long for his dashing hopes as an individual star to fall flat on the ice.  As the rookie season comes to the end soon, Trueno is looking more like a ride on the coattail kind of player than a contributor.

Luckily for Bollos de Trueno, the Vancouver team is stacked with talent and Trueno is surrounded by outstanding players with experience and talent under their belts.  Most of the season Trueno has been teamed up with a legend in the VHL, Mark Calaway.  There isn’t a better player who can mentor Trueno.  To add to Trueno’s development, Guntis Gavilrovs has spent the entire season teaching Trueno how to fight; although Trueno just can’t seem to get the heavy gloves off in a game and has yet to put the training in action during games.  GM Frank does allow Trueno to take out some aggression on the scoring star of the team, Rip Wheeler, but that is only because Frank knows that Rip can barely feel Trueno’s punches.

Throughout the season, Bollos de Trueno has been on active lines who take lots of shots on goal, and although Trueno does not get many apples from goals by leading scorer Logan Ninefingers, or targets from Owen Lazaro or Riley Martin, Trueno does reap the reward of a + on the ± stat.  Even when Liv Slater or PMB are on the ice with Trueno, there seems to be a little flare with effort of getting a goal off of passes from Trueno to pad his assists.

The biggest let down by Bollos de Trueno this season has been his lack of aggressiveness and being tough on the ice.  Trueno’s job as defensive defenseman is to hit opponents and block shots.  He is built for such brutal force, yet he cannot seem to complete the play and knock the puck off the sticks or throw his body in the way, to protect Vancouver goalies Dalkr Vidarsson and Soju.  With time running out of the season and every win becoming more important, Trueno is going to need a good ass kicking to get his head back on track and sacrifice his body to help Vancouver breeze through the playoffs and lift the cup.

To summarize Bollos de Trueno’s rookie season thus far, the word is “disappointing.”  Trueno came up way short contributing to the team and has a lot of learning to do in order to help in the future.  This process is too slow for Trueno’s lack of patience and has caused him to partake in an excessive amount of Jameson and other whiskeys.  There are even rumors that Trueno could be partaking in other substances to mask the shame and pain of being a lump of shit on the bench, rather than being a dominant player on the ice.  It’s a good thing that the Wolves organization has an excellent treatment and detox plan.
