Legion Waiting For Playoffs

The Toronto Legion wrapped up the regular season at 48-19-5 with 101 points, good enough to finish first in the North American Conference by 6 points and fourth in the VHL behind Moscow, Malmo, and Riga. The Legion finished with a +57 goal differential, fifth best in the VHL, along with the seventh most shots for and fifth fewest shots against in the league. With a regular season less dominant than last season, it's looking like a tougher task to make it where they want to go this season.

The Legion will face the winner of the Seattle Bears/Calgary Wranglers series (Bears currently lead 2-0), and both teams would present a tough matchup for Toronto. Seattle in particular looks like a challenge, as Toronto struggled during the regular season against them. The other series in the NA Conference features Vancouver and Chicago.

In the final season for Captain Mac Atlas and Jimi Jaks, the Legion will look to do the thing that they couldn't do for Joel Castle last season and send their franchise players off into retirement as Champions. The trip to get back to the Continental Cup Final looks tougher than last season for the Legion, especially following up a year where the Legion littered the VHL Top 10 stats sheet with a season that saw very few league-wide standout performances.

In the end, the playoffs for the Legion will come down to how well they can defend in their own end to limit chances against, and how the big forwards perform up front to add timely scoring. If the Legion want to go all the way this year, it's going to take a full team effort to get the job done without being disappointed at the end.
