Chicago and Richmond Gear Up for Playoffs

Chicago Phoenix Tough First Round Opponent

The Chicago Phoenix finished third place in the NA conference this season, putting up a 45-23-4 record, the best under the current GM. The Phoenix are pretty similar to last season, however, some much needed depth upgrades helped the team to improve. Led by Spanish Moon Moth, this team has the core four players, each dropping over 90 points for the team. Mancini, Oven, and Schwarzer have helped Moon Moth carry the load and seem to be the main pieces heading into the playoffs if the Phoenix are to go far. Up against them though, they're lined up against a stacked Vancouver team. One of the hottest teams in the VHL, the Vancouver Wolves were able to secure second place in NA on the last day, and the home ice advantage. Vancouver has 5 players above 1000+ TPA and they're all in this season to try to compete for the cup. They're led by Liv Slater, who swapped up and decided it's time to play forward, dropping 94 points this season. This team is more about depth scoring, where as Chicago is more top heavy in scoring. As we can see though, this is a recipe for success as last season, Moscow had crazy depth and ended up winning it all. This series is going to be an absolute battle, with close games and honestly, most likely going to go 7 games at the end. I think either team can win, but most people will give Vancouver the slight edge as they're coming into the playoffs on a 8 game win streak and are the hottest team recently. Chicago though, always seems to have STHS on their side, so they might have a fighting chance to take down the super team. It's going to take a lot of effort, but Chicago could finally win their first series under the current GM and finally end a curse.

George Richmond Prepares for the Tough Task Ahead

In the other conference, George Richmond is coming off a great season, dropping 80 points for the first time in his career. Playing on the second line, Richmond has cemented himself as one of the best depth pieces in the league and he's sacrificed to make Moscow a great team. Whether that be ice time, or dropping the gloves a whopping 9 times according to Scurvy this season, Richmond has taken on a power forward role with this team and isn't afraid to toss the body around. However, for the first time in his career, Richmond is a minus, dropping a -5 despite having 80 points on the year. He'll have to take care of that in playoffs, otherwise, fans might see him as a liability and a reason why Moscow could potentially fail to secure another championship. However, Richmond has improved every single season and come playoff time, he's shown he can turn it up another notch. Richmond will be preparing specifically for Davos, as he wants to take them down. Regardless, Richmond is dialed in and ready to play Davos in the first round of the playoffs.
