SleepyPlayz 21
I set up the camera, looking into the soulless lens of my phone’s camera. I sigh before pressing the record button, a forced smile appearing on my face. “Hello? Is this thing on?” Of course, I knew the camera was on. This wasn’t some sort of test, it was just an introduction to the video. It was also to test the levels of my microphone, which were perfectly fine. At least I was able to be heard. My forced smile continued as I stared into the camera, some girl I didn’t know staring back at me. My voice didn’t sound close to what I wanted it to be, but… life was life. Maybe, in due time. Maybe… that was for the future though. I toughed it out, I’ve always done that. “Hello, I’m sure you don’t know me, VHL, so I’m going to make an introduction video. What questions I’m sure others will have for me, what I’m trying to be, and a few other introductory questions.” I adjusted myself in my seat, hunching over and sitting criss-crossed, for some reason. I fidgeted a lot at that time too, seeing all the wrong parts of me. There was no reason for me to actually sit like this, I was on a chair, not the floor. Oh, that didn’t matter right now. I was trying to record an introductory video for people. What good would it be to care that much about the way I looked on camera? Well, no, that’s also part of your first impression, why wouldn’t it be important to me? Now I was focusing too much on every little issue with my appearance… ugh, the show must go on. I’ll just look at the wall, that hopefully will help. “Okay, now that I’m comfortable, let’s begin, shall we? This isn’t a list of questions from people that I know, this is just a list of introductory questions that someone can generally have when first meeting someone!” I’d forced my voice to be lower, but I couldn’t keep it up without drinking water. I just gave up. It sounded fake anyways. Why bother right now? Everyone could probably tell. “First of all, who am I? I’m a forward who plays right wing named Agustin Martinez, I don’t play hockey for a team professionally right now but this is to get my name out to the teams in the VHL.” My notes for potential questions started to fold down as I spoke, a slight gust of wind was able to do that. Oh well, it didn’t completely fold over, I could see all of the questions. “For a few league related questions, who do I want to be in the VHL and VHLM? I want to be a dependable teammate who’ll score in the clutch for my teammates and someone who can fight for his wins. I’m a big fighter, and I’ve been in a lot of physical and verbal fights with people, but I also played field hockey, and I was a great scorer.” I thought about what else to say. I didn’t have much else to add onto that, so moving onto another question would be for the better. “Next up, my player type. I don’t know a lot of players exactly by name, like I said before, I want to be a dependable teammate. I think being a scorer would fit me best, since I was a great scorer in field hockey and I like the rush.” Again, there was nothing to say to that question, but there was one thing I wanted to add at the end. “I think that trying to change my ways by becoming a dependable passer would be harder than being a great scorer. Plus, I’m already used to scoring.” What’s up next? I looked at the sheet of paper that had been moved by the wind. It covered the first three questions. Luckily, I already answered those. What was the fourth question? What am I hoping to achieve… “What’s my goal in 3 seasons? Well, what makes sense for me is winning. I want to win and that’s the only thing on my mind, so I think getting a championship at that time would be the most ideal thing. Plus, I want to be utilized. I don’t want to be one of those players who sits on the bench with no playing time. I want to be someone who’s known to the world, who at least plays enough minutes to make a significant contribution to my team.” Yeah, that sounded more like what I wanted. This was for the future anyways, not for the present. If I could shop for the future, I’d buy at least two championships. For right now though, I think setting my bar at one would be more than enough. Next… “How high do I think my ceiling is?” I pondered. My wall looked oddly tasty, but that was probably from staring at it for far too long. “I think, at the lowest, my ceiling is a starter player who can make a good enough contribution to the team. At the highest, though, I’d say something like a star who’s the MVP of the league.” Yeah, that aligns with my goals. Perfect, what’s next though? I guess the next few questions aren’t the most engaging, but they’re personality questions more than anything. Let me think about them… “Next, some off-topic questions. What’s your favorite food is the first one. My favorite food is pork pancit. The noodles are perfect, and the way the pork and noodles mix is amazing. Of course, there are other additions that enhance the flavor, but it’s so good.” As a child, I almost never had any big meals. That meant that, often, I made do with meals that had a lot of rice. Someone could see my skills growing as I got older, since I was able to buy more things and that meant expanding my cabinet and the things I could cook. Those expanded resource meant I had to take the time to learn different dishes, but I especially liked the way my own pork pancit tasted! It’s time for the next question though. This has been going on for far too long. I should wrap this up quickly. “There’s also my biggest inspiration in my life. I can’t say for certain, but my mom’s a big influence in my life and she’s someone who I look up to. She’s been able to do just about anything, and I appreciate her a lot. Finally, what group of people or individual means the most to me? A lot of people mean a lot to me, but my friends who have helped me along my journey and have been there since basically the beginning are the people who I look up to the most. I think they’re the biggest reason I’m still here smiling. Even if I can’t be happy, they somehow manage to put a smile on my face.” That’s it, that’s where I wanted to end it. I was happy the way this ended, and I didn’t want to drag this out for too long. Word Count: 1261 Words (2 weeks?) Claims: 11/24, 12/01 Claiming: 11/24, 12/01 (I do this if I write longer articles!)
