CGY extending his family

Callum came home after training one afternoon and told his girlfriend Eilidh to get ready to go out.

The Scottish has long since learned that this means stat and so she got ready immediately.

'Where are we going?'

'It is a surprise, honey. Trust me.'

Eilidh got ready and followed her boyfriend out of the door.

'You remember that two weeks back, the Americans had an event for an animal shelter?'

'Yeah, you told me. The club raised a significant amount. I think it was for extending the onsite vet station.'

'Indeed. They can now hire an additional vet to take car of the rescue animals.'

'So are you telling me, we are going to the 'pound?'

'We are there is someone I want you to meet.'

The Ayrshire lass thought her part about that. It was obvious to her that Callum will adopt or already has adopted one of the shelter animals. The question was only what kind.

The secret was lifted when the Swiss defender showed her a three months old American Staffordshire pup. The dog sniffed at the couple and immediately started to jump around to encourage the hoomans to play with him.

From their observations as well as the caretakers' statements they established that he is a lively and playfull pup which sofar has not shown any aggression whatsoever.

'Why did the previous owners abandon him?', Callum asked. 'Does he suffer from any hereditary illness?'

'Not that we know of.' replied one of the vets. 'They were breeders and the liver-coloured coat is not to breed standards. So they decided they would not like to keep him.'

'That is sad if someone is dismissed just because of the colour of his skin.' said Callum. 'We would like to give him a new home.'

 

After all the formalities were taken care of, the clerk asked the couple what name the dog should get. The couple replied simultaneously 'Hannibal'.

So Hannibal found a family and walked with his hoomans to his new home.
