Excitement ramps up across the league as the VHL playoffs are about to start. The Wildcard games have concluded and now the playoff series are set in stone. The New York Americans lost against the Seattle Bears 3-1 in the wildcard games. The Phantom of the VHL had an incredible performance with 10 points in 4 games in the series. The Seattle Bears are now set to face the Vancouver Wolves who have been the at the top of the North American Conference for most part of the S97 season. Riga Reign had a strong performance, sweeping the Prague Phantoms in the wildcard series 3-0. Axel Gunner and Severus Targaryen both led Riga to victory with an incredible 20 points combined in those 3 games. Riga is now set to face Malmo Nighthawks who have been dominating the European Conference. Staying in the European Conference, HC Davos Dynamo and the Moscow Menace are already set for the first round series. It’s going to be an exciting matchup between the two teams who, on paper, seem to be even in talent. Then in the North American Conference comes the matchup between The Toronto Legion and the Calgary Wranglers. Although Calgary was higher in the standings for most of the season compared to Toronto, Toronto had a strong push near the end of the season where they surpassed the Wranglers in wins and have been a team to watch out for. Calgary ended up higher in the standings due to the OTL points. It’s going to be a tough and thrilling matchup between the two teams.
