Onyekachukwu Chidieber Oluwaseun - Ring of Honor

Since I'm of course not going to be retiring numbers left and right while GM of Vegas (that is an incredibly high standard), I'd like to induct people into what I'll refer to as a "Ring of Honor". This will only be for players that I've gotten to GM, which I think makes sense, and I hope any future GMs will take this up and continue it! I think it's a fun way to celebrate these players! The first inductee, despite only playing one season with the team, will be OCO.

OCO didn't spend too long with Vegas, playing 60 regular season games and 16 playoff games, but that season is a truly historic one for the franchise. The LVA offense lacked a scoring touch, and managed only 126 goals, the second least in our long history. We finished 6th in the league regardless (despite having the second lowest goal total), largely due to the dominance of Oluwaseun. The Aces lost 20 games in regulation, and an unbelievable 20 in overtime as well, showing how he was able to keep them in games throughout the season. His .923 SV% through 60 regular season games is the highest career SV% of any Aces goalie, and his GAA of 1.52 breaks both single-season and career records. When playoffs came around, the Aces looked like a whole new team, and dispatched a heavily favored Miami Marauders team in 5 games, scoring 16 goals and clicking at a whopping 38.7% on the power play (12/31). Saskatoon they also had little trouble with, and they took care of the Wild in 5 games. OCO stood tallest against Halifax in the finals, posting a .924 SV% in the six games the series lasted. Vegas won at home in a dramatic game six, and a goal to make it 3-1 with under 5 minutes to play sealed our cup win. OCO assisted on all 3 goals in that game. It was an odd decision to have to make, putting a goalie who played only one season with us up here, but it is thoroughly deserved. Cheers and keep it up in Moscow! 🍻
