Moscow hits the trade market early

Recommended Posts

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - With the draft fast approaching, Moscow put themselves out on the market for trade opportunities, feeding off regular season movement and the recent hiring of zealous Assistant GM Michael Clardy and looking to trade picks after trading assets. With trades removing their top winger and switching a longer-term goalie for an older veteran goalie looking to be called up, Moscow leaned toward these next few drafts and the depth in them to acquire new assets. This meant spreading out picks.

Moscow did have 2 of the top 5 selections in the draft, but traded with Minot for a higher pick, some space, a move up in the 2nd round, and a move down in a projected deeper draft next season. This move bode well for the young Russian team with the 3rd Overall selection going to defense in the highly sought after Michael Clardy. With the 7th Overall selection, defense was again the target, scoping in on standout Chuck Goody. With later picks, the Red Wolves took up needs in the top 6 and backup goalie position. But the draft was not enough for the management at the Red Square.

After the draft, there was interest of pairing 2nd Overall pick Josh Merica of the Bern Royals with Chuck Goody. After the New York VHLM Combine earlier this month, Merica and Goody were together on several exhibition games and charity events in Manhattan, a city that helped the pair form a great on the ice bond. Sachimo Zoidberg, along with Moscow management, saw this as a great trade opportunity and requested for a transaction to pair the budding duo. Moscow's request was simple: the acquisition of an equally talented defender in Golden Jedtsson and a project forward in Steven Bradbury to try and take the place of forwards lost in earlier trades. The trade was agreed upon and officially inked in, making both teams better as a result.

This successful trade makes those invested in Moscow happy about their future and the bright careers of the newest draft class!
