Beef Between Poole and Richardson?

In the Super Cup bout between Walcott Your Ass and Strauss the Grouses, easily the two teams with the worst names in the tournament, we saw the first and currently only fight of the Season 41 Super Cup.  This was between Jerrick Poole and Mason Richardson who happen to be the first two defensemen and unquestionably the best defensemen to come out of the highly heralded Season 40 VHL Entry Draft.  The fight began directly after a faceoff in the Strauss defensive zone won by Travis Boychuk of Walcott Your Ass.  Prior to the faceoff, after goaltender Hans Wingate smothered a Konstantin Azhishchenkov shot, Jerrick Poole gave a quick jab in an effort to knock the puck loose.  Mason Richardson did not take kindly to the action, resulting in an exchange of choice words between the two defensemen.  This argument continued as the teams lined up for the faceoff and as soon as the puck dropped, Richardson bolted for Poole, who immediately dropped his gloves.  Unfortunately, it was not an extremely exciting fight with only a single punch landed by Jerrick Poole before being separated by the referees.  

 

The bad blood between the two did not stop there.  Late in the period, as Mason Richardson brought the puck into the offensive zone, Jerrick Poole lined him up along the boards but despite the hard hit, Richardson stayed up and maintained control of the puck.  In what was perhaps a mix of frustration and anger, Poole turned around and slashed Richardson, breaking his stick and earning a two minute minor.  In the third period, Richardson was called for a goaltender interference minor after slashing Brick Wahl in a move that many saw as a retaliation for Poole's actions earlier in the game.  If there were any issues between Poole and Richardson before the game, nobody knew but now everyone is wondering if this will continue into the VHL season.
