The Brampton Blades certainly did not wasted any time in letting Brody Bryant cut loose and execute deals. Despite only hold the reigns for a couple of days prior to the draft, Bryant pulled off several draft day deals to help put the team in a position to compete this season without having to sacrifice their future in the process. Bryant address his train of thought when discussing the draft on Russillo and Kanell earlier this week.

When I traded our own first round pick before the draft started, I had every intention of just gathering assets for the next couple of seasons and competing then. When a deal fell in our laps for the number three pick, I couldn't turn away. Many know the relationship I have with Titan Kronos' player agent Evans so having the opportunity to get another one of his players under my belt was something I just couldn't turn down. With Kronos' draft situation, he's going to be the only guy out there playing this year that isn't trying to raise his draft stock because he's already owned by a team. He can focus strictly on giving this team his all to play winning hockey rather than selfish hockey. We needed a player like that to get other guys to want to come here. We owned almost the entire third round so we were able to fill our roster out pretty well with players that can gives us a full team. We know the odds of all of those player consistently practicing is low, but that's pretty much how it is after the entire first round. We are second of both of the waiver orders so we will be able to snag two more pretty good players whenever we feel fit. We have all of our draft picks the next two seasons so this isn't going to be a one and done thing like it is for most competing teams. Our goal is a dynasty down here. I think we can make it happen with the core we currently have in place.
