Robert Jelen is a defensive defenseman currently playing for the Moscow Red Wolves of the VHLM. He was drafted eight overall by the Red Wolves in the S50 VHLM dispersal draft, so he has been a high profile player for quite some time, which makes his success virtually not surprising. Since then, he has become the anchor for the Red Wolves’s defense and remains one of the most essential figures in their locker room, which is obviously invaluable for his teammates and the other players on the team. This scouting report will focus on Robert Jelen’s strengths, weaknesses, and what type of player he should currently be described and understood as.

Strengths:

Checking: When Robert decides to lay the hammer on his opponent, he does so quite decisively. An excellent checker from both pure natural strength and technique; Robert has the ability to disrupt nearly any offensive possession by the opponent, by simply checking them. The impact is so powerful, that the puck will more often than not simply be lost by the opponents stick and lead to a turnover. In fact, some players always check from behind, just based off the fear of being hit by Robert, because once you are; you are going to feel the ramifications for several days at the least.

Passing: For a defensive defenseman, Robert being as dynamic as a playmaker he is, can be defined as astonishing. Honestly, if you told a stranger to select between Robert and one of the best playmakers in the league, there is a significant chance the stranger would select Robert several times. He can make nearly any pass when on the ice and sometimes the passes are the ones the opponents least expect. Especially on the power play, which Robert captains and controls at times, his passing is so precise, that rarely when he is in control does the puck go pass the blue line. This obviously leads to extended power play opportunities, which can be an invaluable asset at times.

Defense: So you are the offensive player lined up against Robert and hope to score against him during your game, good luck with that idea. Robert is simply a wall and a fortress on defense and will perhaps makes a defensive mistake once every ten games. His technique is as perfect as you can have it, and his combination of epic skating speed, and brute strength simply make him the perfect defensive machine. Essentially, whatever side of the ice Robert is covering during the game is locked down. Having one side of the ice covered absolutely perfecto by your defense is as strong of a weapon a team can possess. This is the last of the strongest three skills Robert possesses as a player.

Weaknesses:

Strength: Jelen has average strength as a player. He can certainly take a few hits and will still maintain possession of the puck, but he can be rattled quite quickly. Rumor has it, Jelen has been attending the gym on a daily basis and is working quite diligently to become stronger on his skates. With his will and determination being legendary around the league, this skill will most likely be improved over time, even if he has already been a seasoned player in the league.

Scoring: Robert is certainly capable of scoring goals on occasion, he did score two this regular season for the Red Wolves. However, by no means is his shot eye popping good or effective. He can make a goal if left wide open, but rarely will you see a highlight reel goal coming out of nowhere. Lacks a great arsenal of shots, as he is severely limited to having a strong slap shot, due to his pure strength. Robert has shown improvement over time with his shot though, and it would not be surprising if this skill become a strength at some point in the future.

Overall:

Robert Jelen is a defenseman any team in the league would crave for, because he excels in so many different areas and some that are unexpected as a defensive defenseman. He is nearly impossible to beat on the defensive front of the game. Furthermore, he can easily intimidate the opposition through his pure strength and ability to be a monster checker. In addition, he has some really solid offensive ability too, as he remains a dynamic playmaker for a defenseman, while also simultaneously being able to be a serviceable goal scorer. To call Robert one of the best defenseman in the league would not be a stretch by any means.

Wouldn't anyone on his team be his teammate? I don't get the distinction here lol

This whole thing read like you were really short on words for a high school paper and you added fluff to get it to the wordcount needed. Not sure if that was the case though since this was well over the words required.  I would be careful with trying to use the semi-colon and extra adverbs as the extra adverbs come off as redundant at times.

Overall, I can't really complain. It was an easy read and looks like you spent some time getting it done. Nice job.

760  words so no issues there. Had all the strengths and weaknesses required.
