My Life: An Autobiography

Leilani Maleko was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents, Keoni and Lani Maleko gave birth to him inside their home. Now I know what you are thinking. Hawaii so their houses are made of straw and other sorts of things. Well if you thought that, then you would be a stereotypical, uninformed miscreant. The houses in Hawaii are just like any other normal house in the entire United States. It is a large and very spacious four bedroom house with two bathrooms. It also had a guest house built just outback of their normal house they lived in. The guest house is where family would stay when they came to visit from all around the world. During the time of birth, Leilani had many family members there to see him enter this beautiful world. He had several aunts, uncles and cousins show up as well as his grandparents.

Growing up was very interesting for Leilani. He was taught how to surf at a young age and he wanted to follow in his grandfathers footsteps. His grandfather was a legendary surfer and held many different records and medals from his years of competing. His father on the other hand didn't condone him surfing as much. He wanted his son to get an education and focus on what he wanted to do in life. His father was a doctor and only wanted to see his son grow up and not have to worry about how he would provide for his own family when the time was right. On visits to his grandfather, he would get his chance to surf and enjoy life. Usually he would be with his parents during the week and his grandparents on the weekends. Leilani had his sights set on being a legendary surfer one day just like his grandfather.

During his early years in school he was as focused as he could be. He earned good grades and was often on the honor roll for his excellent school work. Outside of school he loved to hand out with his friends and do all sorts of things. Biking was the new thing and him and his friends all wanted to go up and down the tallest mountains in all of Hawaii. Of course not the volcanoes as that would be very dangerous for them. So they made sure to follow all the right paths and they always carried enough water to stay hydrated. His father was alright with this as it kept him physically active and would help lead a better lifestyle. One day after he came home from school, he had went over to a friend's house. It was there that he first learned about hockey as his friend was watching a hockey game. he wasn't certain of what it was and he asked about it. His friend explained what it was and they both sat there and watched the whole game. After it ended they wanted to give it a try. Of course there was no where they could so they would use sticks and a tennis ball.

When high school came around it was time for him to get serious about his schooling. In his freshman year there had been news that had broke about a hockey rink being built in town. It was then that Leilani and his long time pal would finally get their chance to play on real ice. They would get the chance to see how it really felt to play on the ice. They had been practicing and practicing all year until the summer finally came around. Once the summer hit that was when the ice rink had fully been built and it opened the day after school let out. They spent all summer there and Leilani had kept it secret from his father all this time. He would just lie and say he was over at his friends house. Luckily his friends parents were always working until around six o'clock during the week. It was there on that ice rink that Leilani would soon find his passion for hockey and want to play professionally. For the remainder of his time in high school, he would join a team at the local ice rink and would help them to win games and medals. He had kept this all from his father during the course of high school but after graduating, he had told his father he wanted to go to college to play hockey. At first his father was furious, but after learning about all the medals and his potential to be a great professional player. So his father allowed it and he would finally get his chance to play.

During college he would find out that he liked playing center. He loved face offs and he loved even more being the focal point on the team. He would get his chance to shoot just as much as he got assists. He was quick on his feet and he was always making plays happen. He would go on to be the leading scorer on the team in his freshman year. After he finished he wanted to see if he could enter the NHL. After learning he wouldn't be able to play there for some undefined reason, news broke of his chance to play in the Victory Hockey League, (VHL for short). He would then decide that he would take his talents there and see what could happen. He had found out that they had a minors system and he would be entered into it. He had no problem with this as it would be his chance to showcase his skills first hand to the world. He wants to show what he can do and show that he can stack up with the best of them. While he is uncertain of the team he will play for, he is very certain that he wants to make his mark on the league in a very interesting manner. He has set his goals high and he will be taking his talents to whichever team gives him his best chance at winning.
