Hurricane Harvey has wreaked havoc in the Gulf Coast of Texas, and continues to do so as a Tropical Storm. Tens of thousands of people have been affected by the storm and the ongoing rain that still continues to fall. Thousands of homes are underwater, countless businesses as well. The loss of property is estimated to be in the tens of billions. Citizens and athletes around the world are doing whatever they can to help wherever they can. Today the VHL announced that they will halt their regular season for one day to hold a telethon in the day, and later in the evening host a celebrity charity game, in conjunction with the NHL, in hopes of raising money for those affected from Hurricane Harvey.

"We are all humans and it's utterly shocking to see what is happening to those people down in Texas." Commissioner Smarch said, "We have spoken to representatives from each team and they have all overwhelmingly agreed to put our regular season on hold to host this telethon and charity game. In conjunction with the NHL, we have Countless members from that league as well that want to help with the telethon and play along side our guys and gals in the VHL. We have received thousands of calls from celebrity's that also want to lace them up and participate in this event. It's amazing to see everyone put aside any and all differences they have to come together and help do their part to help these people." He concluded.

The game, which will take place this Tuesday September 5th at 7pm, will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, home of the Dallas Stars of the NHL. Tickets will be $20 each with all proceeds going to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Special pricing on all concessions will be available throughout the stadium at every stand. Dollar hot dogs, dollar sodas, and dollar waters, and hamburgers and nachos will be two dollars each. Again, all proceeds will be going to help the victims.

Proceeding the game will be a televised telethon. Many players from the VHL and NHL have already pledged their time to man the phone lines for this telethon, but have also pledged portions of their salaries to the cause. So far $27 million has been raised from this alone. Some players have even said if they hit a $10 million dollar goal with this telethon they will double their donation. "Were hoping people can spare anything to help out. With $27 million already pledged from our players, this is a huge step in the right direction. We are hoping we can hit fifty million raised from all this, but that would be but a small dent in the amount of money that is truly needed, but every dollar helps." Commissioner Smarch said. "We know people are helping and continue to  want to help, and some have not but want a way in which to do so, here is your chance." He wrapped up with.
