Fire Tortorella 2,653 Posted February 3, 2014 Share Posted February 3, 2014 Reign Eliminated from Playoff Contention To the surprise of no one, it is now official that the Riga Reign will not be making the playoffs in Season 36. Their 27 points through 58 games is worst in the European Conference and second worst in the VHL, ahead of only the Calgary Wranglers, with 13 points in 58 games, who are just starting their rebuild that will potentially last many seasons. While the progression of the Reign’s rookie class is a bright spot in the season, there really isn’t anything else for Riga fans to look at in a positive perspective. Riga’s -89 goal differential is second worst in the VHL. Their goals for (126) and goals against (215) are also second worst in the league, so it’s not like the Reign excelled in one area while they struggled in the other. The only thing that could make this season worse is if they fall to third in the draft.
