The Sponsors Shield Tournament! (All about Ryuu because why not!)

Recommended Posts

The newly introduced "Sponsors Shield Tournament" is coming up soon and boy is everyone excited.

"I am so excited for this." A spectator said, "I bought tons of food just so that I wouldn't have to leave my house just to get food and miss all the excitement!"

"Whoever came up with this idea needs a raise." Another one said.

"As a player, this is very exciting and fun." said Left Wing Ryuu Crimson of the Riga Reign.

Ryuu had a slow start but has recently regained pace and now he has 39 points with 15 goals. "You know I just became more aggressive in my offense, worked on my defense and keeping control of the puck. I hope I can stay consistent throughout the rest of the season and through this tournament."

True North Gear picked up Ryuu and gave him a $250 000, 3 year contract. He along with other players will be representing True North Gear this Sponsors Shield.

Some of the players he will be teamed up with are:
Shawn Brodeur
Karl von Moltke
Randoms
Oyorra Arroyo
Maxim Kovalchuk
Toby Fitzgerald
Evan R. Lawson
and many more!

"I'm excited to play on a team with these guys. Randoms and Evan are great Left Wingers and I hope they teach me a lot. Karl was great in our time in Hali and I am excited to be able to play with him again. Toby, well I have watched him and he's really good. He, along with Jerwa, is a big factor of Saskatoon's success."

One guy that Ryuu won't be playing with is Dylan Nguyen, his teammate and best friend. This will be only the second time in Victory Hockey League history that they are not on the same team.

The first time was in the S62 World Cup.

"It sucks that he went with Vikings and I went with True North. Still though, I'm loyal to True North all the way. Or, at least until my contract ends. But I hope we have fun against each other. He is a great defensemen and whoever got him got a really capable and strong blueliner. I hope he doesn't embarrass me to badly though." Ryuu said about the young defensemen.

Ryuu has yet to win a championship. He has been close (Silver in WJC and lost at S62 VHLM Finals) but has yet to win it. "I really hope we win this one, but I hope I am of use of my team. Seriously, I don't wanna win a cup but have done nothing to help. I at least want to put in the effort. Helping my team is always first."

A lot of people are estimated to show up, including a lot of people from Baltimore, (and we predict the whole Baltimore sport community will watch,) and some fans from Europe, Asia, and even South America to watch this competition.

"This is one of the biggest events of the season and I hope it lives up to it's hype." one fan said.

We couldn't have said it any better, and neither could Ryuu.

"Yeah, I agree with that guy." He said when we asked him about those words. "Literally can't think of a better way to say it."
