Boragina 89
GRIGORENKO PREPARES FOR FINAL SEASON; CALLS OUT OSBORNE? QUEBEC CITY, Quebec – They say that all good things must come to an end. He was drafted 2nd overall in the Season 30 VHL Entry Draft, and was poised to be an elite forward for many seasons to come in the VHL. He scored 108 goals and added 75 assists during his first season in North America, playing for the Syracuse Wolfpack in 72 games. Since being drafted, he has career numbers of 265 goals and 311 assists totaling 576 points in 504 games played. He is a two time Continental Cup champion and collected a bronze medal at the S34 World Cup of Hockey. He played in the inaugural VHL Super Cup, as he helped lead the McCreath Eaters to the finals, and was a voted All-Star player. It was a good career indeed. It isn’t over yet, and that is something that Yuri Grigorenko was quick to point out to reporters shortly after cleaning out the locker room thanks to the early playoff exit that the Toronto Legion handed the Quebec City Meute during the North American conference final. Despite the loss of goaltender Skyler Rift, the void has been filled with former Helsinki Titans goalie Tuomas Tukio. The addition of Tukio allows the Meute another season of serious contention for the Continental Cup. Grigorenko admitted to having slacked off over the past few seasons in his training methods, but promises he won’t do so during his final season. He noted that he would have an official press conference concerning his retirement around the VHL Trade Deadline. The most interesting note of the day came when a reporter decided to ask Grigorenko about a different former Titan. Ethan Osborne, selected first overall ahead of Grigorenko during the S30 draft, was traded to the Seattle Bears. Apparently, that fact hasn’t sat well with Grigorenko since that fateful draft day. ‘I hope we get to face them (Seattle) come playoff time. He came out on top during the draft when he got taken first. I have two cup rings, he only has one. If we can beat him out and win the Cup, then people will know who the better player is.’ – Yuri Grigorenko Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/5598-grigorenko-prepares-for-final-season-calls-out-osborne/ Share on other sites
