Kel 62
Center Stage, Vojzek Svoboda "I'm not really sure where I will go. I mean, there are so many other god players and each of the General Managers have their own agenda, so it is quite puzzling. I guess the bonus would be the anticipation and the surprise." Vojzek Svoboda stated eagerly in an interview with On the Rise magazine. He also said this when asked about his career, "As for my career, well, right now I'm trying to work on the defensive aspect of my game. I expect at some point to be an all-around player, who has offensive skills, but can be defensively reliable." It is quite visible that Svoboda can become the next promising defenseman in the VHL if he continues to work as a star defenseman. Svoboda is a strong defenseman that can suit well on any side of the ice, he contributes on the offensive side of the game, however, he will always be back in his defensive end to stop an ongoing rush. Svoboda models his game after some of the best defensemen in the league such as Ryan Sullivan. He even states it in his interview, "In the NHL, I would say I model my game after Nashville's Shea Weber, but in the VHL, a former Calgary Wrangler by the name of Ryan Sullivan would be a name that would stick out in terms of modeling myself after." After losing his hopes of becoming an NHL defenseman as he and the Ottawa Senators could not finish a signing, the sneaking defenseman decided to declare for the VHLM Dispersal Draft. After a short time it has been proven that the interest rate on Svoboda has been high since the defenseman went from the lanky kid playing for Czech Republic in the Ivan Hlinka Tournament to a strong and smart defenseman drafted by the Ottawa Senators. When asked about not signing with Ottawa, Svoboda was surely in disappointment, "Not signing in Ottawa right away was disappointing. I think both sides were close, but there were minor details that made the whole thing fizz out. I am sure over the next while we can come to some sort of an agreement. If not, I'm content here in the VHLM for the time being." With that being said it looks like Svoboda is in the center stage as of now and is only going to further take off. It will be exciting to see the road this young prospect takes. “Svoboda is a promising defenseman that is reliable in his own end and from another defenseman to another defenseman I can tell you that Svoboda will only do great things in the VHL. He reminds me of a Conner Low, which is a great compliment at that.
