AwfulHomesick 148 Posted March 17, 2014 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Cologne, Germany 16.3.2014 After an eventful off season for the Cologne Express, the training camp and pre season preparations went swimmingly as expected. One storyline that the Cologne media was very hot on was the connection between veteran starting goaltender Evgeni Chekhov and prospect Blaine Olynick. Things were pretty relaxed during training camp, according to an inside source of the Express locker room. Once the two got to know each other on a first-name basis, the team put the two goalies to the test on a team-wide shootout scrimmage. Both goalies had good showings against the Cologne roster. Loser had to buy the other goalie dinner that night. It wasn't until Kameron Taylor pulled off a "Datsyuk-ian" deke on Olynick to give Chekhov the win over the budding player. Both players have been quoted to have nothing but positive words for each other. "I told him to eat light, I just signed my first pro contract last week," Olynick said with a laugh.
