HughJas_ 76
Halifax News (Sports Column) After signing with the Halifax 21st earlier this year the young defenseman has logged big minutes on the second defensive pairing and some time on the PK. Chan is currently second in +/- on the team with a +4 rating in 6GP and has logged 10 Blocked shots which is quite impressive for a rookie defenseman. Although Chan was known for his impressive 2-way abilities in Junior, he has struggled to contribute offensively with only 2A in 6GP in a relatively deep Halifax 21st lineup. Considering his age and experience we shouldn't exactly be surprised, but looking at TOI he is currently averaging 26:04 TOI through 6 games which indicates he is clearly being given the opportunities to produce. Now I'm not doubting his offensive abilities, but he definitely needs alot of work to succeed at the professional level. With that being said, Chan is an intriguing young player with the talent and work ethics to definitely live up to the expectations. But whether we see that sooner rather than later, time will only tell.
