HughJas_ 76
The rookie defenseman has had his most productive stretch of games this year, registering 6 pts (1-5-6) in as many as four games, including a career high 4pt game. There were doubts about Chan's ability to play at the next level, but he has shown halfway through the regular season that he can handle playing against men. The Hongkonger is currently second in minutes played among his team averaging 26:84 AMG, while also leading his team in penalty kill minutes. The amount of minutes played while also leading the team in +/- (+12), is quite absurd for a first year rookie, but doing it as a defenseman? It's simply quite unheard of. He also leads Halifax's defensive core in scoring with 21pts (6-15-21), which is good for 8th in team scoring. Although we should consider Halifax's scoring depth, 21pts in 38 games is quite the feat. The Halifax 21st are currently 4th in league standings and have made recent acquisitions that signal a push towards a deep playoff run. With top scorers Blake Gaudette, AJ Axelson and Emil Passerelli likely moving up to the big leagues next season, this possibly could be one of the last Halifax playoff runs before the team looks to a rebuild.
