Davos V. Riga

With the last sim of the S66 VHL season happening today, it's now been confirmed that HC Davos Dynamo will be playing against the Riga Reign in the 1st round of the playoffs. In the North American Conference, the Vancouver Wolves will be playing against the New York Americans. The Helsinki Titans and Calgary Wranglers have earned first round byes.

 

Historically, Davos has not faired well in this match up, as Riga has beaten them much more often than not. This year, the Dynamo are going into this as the underdogs, with only 82 points compared to Riga's 91, and a goal differential of 21 compared to Riga's 37. This is going to sound dumb, but in order to win, I believe Davos is going to have to outscore Riga. What I mean by that is that high scoring games should favor Davos more than Riga, considering that Davos has both more goals scored and goals against than Riga.
