Bayley 419
HC Davos Dynamo vs Riga Reign vs Game 1: HC Davos Dynamo know it has been a long time since they have been in a playoff, so they needed to come out strong. Considering they were 2-8 on the season against Riga, it was going to be important to never give up. Well, them coming out early is exactly what they did. After a hooking penalty by Apollo Hackett, Elias Dahlberg would add a PowerPlay goal assisted by John Madden 6 minutes into the game. Rylan Peace would also add a late goal 17 minutes into the game assisted by Marvin Harding to put HC Davos up 2-0 going into the first intermission. The shots were even at 9-9 with Finn Davison stopping every shot that came his way. In the second period, it was all Davos. They had 15 shots on goal to Riga's 4 shots. Kallis Kriketers was up to the test though to keep his team in the game. He would stop every puck that came his way. At his point in the game, the shots were 24-13 at the end of the second period. Davison, again, had a flawless period stopping all 4 shots that he say. He was starting to get cold though, not seeing too much action in the net. Ryuu Crimson would take a silly holding penalty 5 seconds into the third period. With Riga having a great PowerPlay, this is something you really did not want to do. Ryan Kastelic would make Davos pay as he would put one past Finn Davison to cut the deficit to only 2-1. However, Riga could get nothing going as they only generated 4 shots in the third period. Veran Dragomir would add a late empty net goal to propel the Dynamo to a Game 1 victory over the Riga Reign. The shots at the end of the game were 32-17. First Star: Veran Dragomir, Davos - 1 Goal, 2 shots, 4 hits, 1 shot blocked, 27:50 minutes played Second Star: Rylan Peace, Davos - 1 Goal, 3 shots, 2 hits, 29:19 minutes played Third Star: Elias Dahlberg, Davos - 1 Goal, 8 shots, 3 hits, 23:11 minutes played Finn Davison (DAV), 16 saves from 17 shots - (0.941), W, 1-0-0, 60:00 minutes Kallis Kriketers (RIG), 29 saves from 31 shots - (0.935), L, 0-1-0, 59:06 minutes Davos leads 1-0. Game 2: With Riga only shooting the puck 17 times in Game 1, they needed to come out stronger in this game, however, it was Davos that would strike first. It was Elias Dahlberg who would net his second of the series assisted by Dragomir and Alvaro Jokinen at the 8 minute mark of the first period. From there, Riga would definitely get stronger. They would add one about 5 minutes later as Edwin Preencarnacion would add his first of the playoffs assisted by Kastelic and Mikko Aaltonen. This is how the first period would end, 1-1. The Reign would lead the period in shots by a score of 9-8. In the second period, Riga needed to be better, and well, was not. Again, it's a silly penalty that the other team capitalizes on as Podrick Cast would get a holding penalty 35 seconds into the second period in which John Madden would make them pay only 10 seconds later to put Davos up 2-1 in the game. Rylan Peace would find two more goals in the period to put Davos up 4-1 as he added tallies in the 8 and 15th minutes of the second period. Davos would put up 16 shots in the period while Riga would have 10 shots of their own. All of Riga's shots were stopped by Finn Davison. In fact, Kallis would be relieved of his time on the ice after the 8:16 goal by Rylan Peace. RIG G entered the game at that point. RIG G would only give up 1 goal. What a boring third period as it was ALL Riga. They outshot Davos 13-6, however, nothing would go in. They would outshoot Davos in the game by a score of 32-30, however, it was Davos who would take this one. They would win by the score of 4-1 to take the 2-0 series lead.
