S67 Draft Profile, Hugh Chan

With the draft drawing near, we look to Halifax Defenseman Hugh Chan from Hong Kong, China and what he can bring to the team that drafts him. Chan projects as top 2-3 defenseman in the VHL and plays a strong two way game. His strengths are in his elite passing, playmaking and high hockey IQ which helps with his defensive positioning. This past season he lead the Halifax 21st with a team leading +34 rating while also contributing 40 points in his rookie year. Chan also had a great playoff run contributing over a PPG with 9 points in Halifax's 8 playoff games. Going forward, scouts say Chan will need to work on his shot selection and aggressiveness when finishing his hits in order to be successful at the next level.The S67 VHL draft will be held this coming week, Chan is projected to be an early third round pick.
