Draft Day

Today is the VHLM draft and there is no one more excited than newcomer Jeff Blaze. It’s been about two weeks since Jeff announced he would be entering the VHL. Now it all comes down to this day, and the decision will be in the hands of VHLM general managers. Jeff has been spotted around the rink a ton lately getting prepared for the upcoming season, and people say that he is in tip top shape on the ice. Off the ice Jeff has been working even harder and he said diet has been a big part of his on ice condition. Jeff also gives a lot of credit to his personal trainer who has got him into shape in a short amount of time that he is before the upcoming year.

Coming into the draft Jeff has come on very strong as far as TPE goes. He has gained some serious respect around the league, and people are more than noticing. Starting around 30 TPE, Jeff has managed to rack up a total of 43 TPE since then and at more than an impressive pace. Tonight might be an eye opener for Jeff in the draft though as he might be a bit disappointed in where he ends up going. It’s not his fault either, it just seems to be a very strong draft class and he will struggle to climb into the first round. Lots of people around the league are saying that he could possibly going in the early stages of the second round, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him drop to the bottom of the second round.

Right now along with Jeff, there are three right wingers who will draw some serious attention going into the draft. Uhtred, Alex Burrows, and Xavier leFlamant are the three guys that are going to give Jeff a run for his money. Jeff is on the tail of other newer player, Xavier leFlamant who is starting to notice the potential that Jeff has coming into this league. It would be surprising to see Jeff pass Xavier in the draft but we have definitely seen crazier things happen over the years. There hasn’t been much talk about what team has interest in taking him but I think if any team has the chance at the right time, I would be shocked if they didn’t take a chance on the young kid. Consistency is going to be something that some teams will be worried about, so if Jeff can keep proving to these teams that he is here to stick he will have much success in this league. If given the right opportunity in the right place, Jeff has tons of potential and can be very successful for years and maybe one day be an all star in this league. A strong foundation around nutrition and training in the gym will give Jeff the boost he needs to succeed on the ice. Also discipline and sticking to the routine that he has had over the past few weeks will be a big part of his hockey career going forward.
