SlapshotWrangler 864
CALGARY - Jacques got his second shutout at home, blanking the HC Davos Dynamo for a Calgary 3-0 win. However, it was not much of a challenge for the young netminder as the team from Switzerland was only able to get 6 shots on net through the entire game. Pekka Pouta was less lucky as the Calgary Wranglers had 31 shots on net. The squad from Davos could not seem to keep up with the Calgary Wranglers, being outshot in all 3 periods. They had 3 shots in the first period compared to Calgary’s 17. Then they got only 2 shots while the Wranglers were able to get 8 off. Finally, they got one last shot off while Calgary returned with 6 shots. Clearly, one team did not show up to the game and the other team was taking advantage. “Yeah, it was a good game for our guys for sure. Everyone was pitching in and we dominated the entire game. We gave them absolutely nothing. While I’m glad I got the shutout, I’m happier about the fact we got the two points. The team had a bit of a slump but it’s good to see that we were able to shake it off.” All of the goals took place on the powerplay. The first goal was scored by Edwin THE Encarnacion, who mysteriously resembles Edwin Encarnacion, Edwin Reencarnacion, and Edwin Preencarnacion. It’s almost creepy. Anyways, he scored his fourth goal of the season. Kefka Palazzo has one of the most fun names to say in the VHL. He also had the second goal of the game which was also on the power play. That goal was also his fourth goal of the season. Charlie Paddywagon continued the pattern as he also got one past Pekka Pouta on the power play. Just like the first two goals, it was his fourth goal for him. While the other ones were in the first period, this one was scored in the last frame of the game. “Our power play was clicking. The boys were making great plays in the offensive zone and they had a lot of offensive zone time as well. They connected and were able to get it in the net. Our power play units are shaping up to be one of the best.” And of course, Jacques Lafontaine was at the back of it all, watching it all happen. Back in his Saskatoon days, he had a habit of giving up goals when he could easily get a shutout. “We used to joke around a lot about it,” he said with a chuckle. “Like there were 10 shot games and I’d let in 1 goal somehow. It was brutal. I’m glad I was able to lock it down and get it. I would have never lived it down if I let in one of those six shots. The guys were great on defense and were a big part of the shutout. I owe each and every one of them some dinner. But I’m too lazy, so who knows if I’ll actually do it.” Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/80220-shutout-number-2/ Share on other sites
