Jer Lefebvre Junior Review

Growing up in a small northern town of Sault Ste. Marie there was not much to do but play hockey. In his younger years if Jer wasn’t at the rink he was outside on the backyard rink his dad made for him every year or in the basement playing mini sticks with his brother. His love for hockey had always run deep ever since he tried on his first pair of skates, above all his Dream was to make his way to the NHL.

In the early years of minor hockey he was never the best player, until around atom all the backyard hockey and shooting pucks at finally started to pay off. He had become one of the better players in the league, putting up massive amounts of points both him and his parents figured it was time to try out for the AAA team.

Making the AAA was a piece of cake for Jer with his new found talent, from there on out he was a top 3 scorer on the team every year running. He played on the team with the same guys all the way up through bantam. However in the Sault there was no Minor Midget team there was only a Major Midget team the Sault North Stars.

When it came time for the tryouts Jer came up a little short, he was the last cut as they would only take 2 players from his former AAA team to be on the North Stars. Though his dreams of the OHL were most likely gone it didn’t stop him, he had to spend a few years playing in the AA system, he was the leading scorer every year, was the captain on his team and even called up by the North Stars a few times, but his dreams of the NHL were gone.

That brings us to now he had heard about a league called the VHL. He knew it was his shot to play professional hockey and jumped on it. When the first offer came through from Houston he instantly accepted it not wanting to take a chance on waiting to long. The season with Houston was a rocky one but both Jer and the Bulls found their way I the latter part of the season making a real push for the playoffs. With the draft coming up it is an exciting time and hopefully Jer can have his dream realized. The NHL was the dream but the VHL has taken over and is now the ultimate goal.
