Theme Week - Who would you like to meet?

In a time where division and hatred is getting more and more common as the world seeks for a way to unify people regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or any other arbitrary differences, and as people have been learning and realizing the effects of racism and how it has affected many people’s lives, we need to come together as a community. The Victory Hockey League has many unique people with their own perks and differences. With everything going on, we need to take some time to appreciate those differences and accept them. So, we have decided to talk about people we’d like to know better or people we are unfamiliar with.

 

Jacques Lafontaine is a strange player who has only really gotten close to his teammates (and some goalie rivals like Hextall, Funk, and Spyro). When it comes to players he’d like to know more about and that he’d want to hang out with, he took a while to think about it.

 

“There are a lot of goalies I’d love to meet like Finn, Michael, and more but I’d love to know more about Greg Eagles. He’s an awesome goalie and he seems like a chill dude. So yeah, I guess Greg Eagles would be a player I’d love to meet up with. Maybe I could steal some of his tricks, techniques, learn from him. Or maybe we’ll just hang out. Preferably on top of the Saddledome eating food.”

 

Ryuu Crimson was also asked this question in his home in Riga. He also took a while to answer. During his tenure in the Victory Hockey League, he had met a lot of players but the question is if there is a past player or maybe even a present player he’d love to know. After a few minutes, he told us his answer.

 

“I mean, way back when I had always wanted to have a chance to have a full on chat with Orroya Arroyo. Yeah. That guy was an absolute stud and it was an honour to play against him. I’m serious. He dominated the league! The Palindrome Paladin was an awesome player and I feel like we would have had good chats.”

 

He took a break from talking to take a sip from his coffee. Then he continued.

 

“And when it comes to current players, I’d definitely want to meet Condor Adrienne. Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t? This guy is absolutely dominant and has been spectacular this season. He leads in points right now and assists and he’s third in goals. And even more impressive is that he’s a defensemen! He’s a blueliner! And he’s beating all of these forwards offensively. His defense isn’t bad either. You know what, no offense to Malmo but he’s carrying them right now. If they somehow turn their season around and make the playoffs, you know it’ll be due to Condor Adrienne. This guy is the sole reason they still have a bit of a chance of making the playoffs this season. He’s like the Season 69 Danny DeYeeto of the VHL. Phenomenal person and I’d love to meet him one day.”
