Mason 81
Mentally Ready For a young hockey player like Gabriel Akerstrom, there's a lot that needs to be done in order to build up the mental fortitude required to be a success in the playoffs. Currently, Gabriel and his team, the Las Vegas Aces face a tough grind to get through the postseason and make their way toward a Founders Cup, as they enter as the third seeded team in the Western Conference. Gabriel has already spent a lot of time preparing himself for the challenge ahead, taking a great deal of time to focus on the opponents that he's going to face, meticulously watching game tape and learning everything about them that he can, and working on coming up with counter strategies to the moves that he's likely to see from them if the Aces are matched up against them. A lot of his attention has also been devoted to techniques including visualisation and meditation to boost his mental wellbeing and enable him to use his mental strength as a weapon when faced with tough situations. There's a long road ahead for Gabriel, but being able to get himself off to the best start possible by becoming a clutch performer in his first trip to the playoffs will be a huge moral victory for him and should set him up well going forward.
