Pekko Viitanen is a promising young prospect hailing from the Finnish city of Turku. At a young age his parents put him in tennis where he learned valuable skills like hand eye coordination, athleticism, and flexibility. But at the age of eight Pekko got tired of tennis, citing it as “too soft”, and requested that his parents sign him up for the local hockey team instead. He was undersized and was very intimidated by the game, so his father decided to take him out on the pond for some extra training. Until one day he went to fetch a puck in the centre of the frozen pond and fell through. He was under the frigid water, unconscious for 5 minutes and had to be resuscitated. He miraculously survived, and from that day on he had ice in his veins and played with tenacity. Pekko began to dominate the local youth hockey league, known for his blistering shot and vision on the ice.

At 17 years old Pekko moved to Moscow to improve his career, training with Ilya Kovalchuck. While in Russia he fine tuned his game to become more physical. He remained in Russia until the age of 20 when he signed with Minnesota Storm of the VHLM, he continues to Improve his game and is excited for the upcoming VHL draft.
