Halifax Going Strong

Despite the terrible play from defenseman Gabriel Akerstrom that I touched on in my article last week, it’s no exaggeration to say that the Halifax 21st as a team are having a great season. They are currently holding down the top spot in the VHLM’s Eastern conference with a 6 point cushion over second place, and their current total has them 10 points ahead of 1st place in the Western conference. It’s safe to say that things are going how everyone involved in the team would have hoped they would back at the start of the season, and we’ve seen some great contributions from members of the team to help guide them to the position they’re in now. The end of the season keeps getting closer and closer, and for the 21st the big challenge beyond finishing the regular season strong is to get themselves into playoff mode to make a run at the cup. Despite there being some tough competition in the league this season, Halifax will definitely see themselves as the team to beat, so it’s going to be interesting to see what teams do to try and beat them in a series matchup. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it’s not going to be an easy thing to do.
