Positivity Despite Missing Playoff Picture

The Saskatoon Wild, in an effort to push the envelope and qualify for the VHLM playoffs, came up 1 point short of potentially solidifying the second seed in the North American Conference. To conclude the season, in the final 15 games, the Wild went 10-4-0-1, but dropped quite possibly the most important game, a 3-1 decision to the Ottawa Lynx on the 3rd last game of the regular season. Despite missing the playoffs by a single point, there were many positives that the Saskatoon Wild can take away from this season. Not only did the team finish above .500, but through a couple of major deals earlier on in the season, the Wild were able to solidify some sort of line-up for Season 40, in which the team plans on being majorly competitive in the ever-tough North American Conference of the VHLM. On top of that, Mikael Svensson finished the season scoring 78 goals and 67 assists for 145 points. As well, Walt Pringle and Tobias Funke both finished with more than 100 points with 110 and 107 respectively. Lights Bokan finished the campaign with 91 points and Braxton Hunter rounded out his campaign in fine form tallying 73 points in 47 games since coming over in a trade from Turku.

So even though there is the disappointment of missing out on the post-season, there are some positives to carry over into next season and with the current roster players and the glut of draft picks at Brett Slobodzian’s disposal, the team should be more primed for success in Season 40.

I have actually had a lot of fun with the boys and Slobo in the Saskatoon LR this season. It's not always the busiest bar in town, but it certainly has some good moment. I encourage any player to get the chance to work with and under Slobo as it's a positive attitude in there filled with tons of help. Well done Brett!
