Abe Roque: Before the NCAA, the USNTDP..... and shes still a VHLM FA.... :/

Before her days in Wisconsin Roque’s home was Ann Arbor and the USNDTP. Three years of blood, sweat and tears.Two gold medals, one silver medal and Countless hours on the ice and in the weight room. Dedication to hard work and effort.

In the end, for Abe Roque it’s all about the memories and the friendships with her “brothers” on the team.

“The program is known for lifetime friendships and memories together,” said Roque, a forward and first female ever on the U.S. National Under-18 Team. “Our team is probably one of the closest teams that have come together through the program. I think we will definitely get together and, hopefully, have a team reunion every year.”

The Sault Ste Marie Mich,,native came to the National Team Development Program to further develop her game, with the opportunity of wearing the crest of her country is an honor that will forget never be forgotten

 

 It was an honor every day. I never took 1 second for granted,” she said. “I always wanted to play here. Finally, having the opportunity, I made this happen. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

“All the work I have put in my entire life is finally paying off. To come out here and play for my country at the highest level is awesome and I love it.”

The 5-foot-5, 165-pound forward won three medals playing for Team USA at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Under-18 Championship, winning a gold medal as an underage player in 2015 before finishing her NTDP career with a silver medal in 2017, following a 3-2 dramatic shoutout loss to Canada in the final seeing Abe chosen to shoot 6 Times (Breaking Cole Perfetti's Record) Scoring an amazing 6/6 , ultimately ending in a loss for her team USA in round 11 of the Shoutout.

 

Now its time for the VHLM or the VHLM Juniors wherever it be , Abe Roque is ready to prove consistent dedication!!
