Name: Tyson Stokes

Position: Center

Height: 6 Feet, 5 Inches

Weight: 223 Pounds

Jersey Number: 33

Age: 25

Handedness: Right

Birthplace: Hell, Michigan

VHLM Team: Brampton Blades (2nd overall selection in S38)

Introduction:

Tyson Stokes came to the VHLM from a fairly well-known agency that has represented successful VHL veteran, Anatoli Zhumbayev. Stokes may not have had the most training hours among draft eligible prospects heading into the Season 38 VHLM Dispersal Draft but the prospects who spent more time training, had declared themselves eligible for the draft about a month prior to Stokes. Tyson's agent, an SHL hall of fame goaltender has built a reputation in the VHL and SHL for helping mould and representing great players. This reputation helped the draft stock of Stokes to rise significantly and he was selected with the second overall selection in the Season 38 VHLM Dispersal Draft. Tyson put up nearly a point and a half per game for the Blades during the regular season without all that much of a supporting cast and nearly two points per game in their six game opening round playoff series loss to the Ottawa Lynx. The Season 39 VHL Entry Draft is around the corner and Stokes is expected to be selected with one of the top three picks. With his agent's ties to the Helsinki Titans, I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in the capital city of Finland at the completion of the draft.

Team: Blades  GP: 72  G: 24  A: 80  PTS: 104  Plus/Minus: -19  PIM: 40  HIT: 126  SB: 36  GWG: 6

Team: Blades  GP: 6  G: 6  A: 4  PTS: 10  Plus/Minus: +4  PIM: 6  HIT: 7  SB: 3  GWG: 0

Strengths:

Stokes possesses exceptional on-ice vision and elite playmaking abilities as shown by his 80 assists this past season with the Brampton Blades, good for eighth most in the VHLM. Tyson is a big man, standing six feet, five inches tall and tipping the scales at 223 pounds so he must be a slow skater, right? Wrong. Stokes is an excellent skater with high-end speed and acceleration rates that fools opponents who are left standing flat-footed while he races past them into the attacking zone. Mr. Stokes is also a very strong competitor as can be expected from a player of his size. He fights for every inch on the ice and is very tough to knock off the puck that allows him to cycle down low and find an open teammate for that tape to tape pass to set up a goal. He is also a fairly good puck handler who has some slick moves for a big man, and carries the puck with precision, distributing the puck with ease.

Weaknesses:

Scoring goals is not a strong suit in Tyson Stokes' game to say the least. He scored only 24 in Season 38 for the Brampton Blades so that will be an aspect of his game that he will want to improve on during the off-season, although he will always be a "pass-first" type of player. Stokes is a big man but does not use that big frame to his advantage as much as he should, shying away from making body checks in the corners and dirty areas of the ice a lot of the time. Tyson will definitely need to address this issue going forward or he will be overpowered and obliterated when he steps foot onto VHL ice. His defensive abilities could also use some work but he is not a defensive liability, so to say but can be caught out of position from time to time and that can cause problems in the future if it is not addressed.

A superb Rookie Profile, and thanks for not making this 2,000 words. You included a nice brief background section followed by a quick overview of your strengths and weaknesses. Adding stats and the overall appearance and flow of this was great and easy to read.
