5 Questions – Anze Miklavz

 

Hello folks my name is Chris Hansen and this is 5 Questions with Anze Miklavz, rookie right winger for the Mexico City Kings. Anze, please take a seat.

 

Question 1

CH: You were passed over in the VHL and VHLM draft despite your excellent season with Rögle BK. Can you give us a reason why you weren’t selected?

 

AM: I think it has to do with my 3-year hiatus from playing hockey, you know? GMs were worried about my commitment to the sport and it’s up to me to prove them wrong. I can’t wait to get back on the ice this season make them regret not selecting me.

 

Question 2

 

CH: Why did you choose Mexico City for this year?

 

AM: I just thought they had a good program and they offered the best opportunity for me as a second line winger with some power play opportunities. I’m pretty familiar with Tui Sova as well who also signed with them.

 

Question 3

 

CH: What kind of player do Mexico City fans plan to see this upcoming season?

 

AM: I want be a playmaking winger. I’ve been more of a scorer growing up, but I feel like in this league, you need to have a bit of hockey sense and be able to make plays. So yeah, a playmaking winger with some scoring touch.

Question 4

CH: If you were to compare yourself to an existing or past VHL player who would it be?

 

AM: Jon M*Kelvie, for sure. I am related to him which can be biased, but he definitely inspired me growing up, especially when playing for Vasteras IK.

 

Question 5

 

CH: What’s your expectation this year in terms of score sheet results

 

AM: It’s hard to really know how hard this league is, but I’m hoping to have at least 20 goals and 50 points total. I’m not much into the physical aspect of the game, so I’m really going to focus on my skills to give us the best chance to win.
