Where Does McCloud’s Future Lie After S77

I know that the new season hasn’t started yet but It’s not too far away. At the end of S77, a large part of the Riga Reign’s forward core will be free agents or their contract will be expiring. In such a large squad, as Riga has many active players, It will be incredibly hard, of not impossible to keep everyone since most player are due a big pay rise.

 

So where does this leave McCloud? Well, we know he wants to stay with the club but I’m pretty sure most players do, and given that he isn’t quite up there, in terms of TPE (and could leave him further down the pecking order for an extension) with 2 out of Shields, McJake and DaMoose likely to be getting extended, as well as forwards Addison McLaren and Justin Lose and defensemen Linus Zetterstrom. If there is still enough cap space after that then hopefully McCloud will receive an extension but if not, it’s off to free agency for him. He could be quite an attractive free agent to pick up as he would slot into a kind of 1^st line / 2^nd line forward role.

 

Wonder how his contract situation will pan out…
