After being selected seventh overall in the S39 VHLM Entry Draft, Soren Douffet is hopeful that Ottawa will be the right spot for him to develop as a player and a man.

"Ottawa was one of the two teams to contact me prior to the draft, so I know they wanted me from the beginning, which is reassuring. It is nice to be on a team where you know they targeted you and did not just take you because nobody was left," said Douffet.

In Ottawa, Douffet will have numerous top prospects surrounding him, most of whom are about ready to lace up the skates in the VHL, but are staying down for one last shot at the Founders Cup.

"I do not want to let them all down. As the goalie, our success rests on my shoulders. The forwards will score, the defensemen will defend, but at the end of the day, I need to keep the puck out of the net. If I cannot do that, we will lose and that is the end of it," said Douffet. "If we are to go where the General Manager and everybody else thinks we can, I cannot be a disappointment."

This motivation to not disappoint his teammates is likely exactly what Douffet needs according to his agent Mathias Chouinard.

"Both of my last two players, Simmons and Linguini, turned out into usable players. However, they lacked the fire under their ass to become good or great. Soren has that fire, as he does not want to disappoint his team. That motivation will push him onto be a complete success," said Chouinard.

Only time will tell, but Ottawa is definitely hoping that Douffet reaches his promise and more.
