I call this full circle, because at the end of last season my player had put up some numbers that were solid, yet not where I wanted them. And now at the end of this season, season 77, I'm in the same situation. I in now way intend to complain, as complaining won't get me out of this hell hole known as scoring 50 points a season. Two seasons in a row and they look nearly identical in all but one aspect, I halved my penalty minutes, don't ask me how but I did.

Now I have a few options to consider to get me out of this full circle season loop. I can accept that I won't be able to change my stats and continue doing as I have been. And I have the option of asking for more playing time, and hoping I can sore more with more time played. Now I'll tell you why both these options suck, before I tell you a third option I've picked instead. The reason why accepting defeat sucks, is because it's not who I am, I keep playing no matter who kicks my ass. I don't like losing, and I don't like letting people down, by giving up I'm not only letting myself down, but I'm also letting my team down.

The second option is dog shit too, because I already play some fairly good minutes for a third liner. I think at the moment I average close to 15 to 20 minutes a game. Which all things considered, is pretty fucking good. Me asking my GM to give me more time would further complicate the team dynamic, and honestly I don't want to do that. I feel like the role I'm playing on the team is sufficient for what I offer to my team mates. I'm a first gen player who on a good week is capped, and most weeks hovers at 9 to 10 TPE. So It's not like I'm some amazing remake who consistently earns over 20 TPE a week, and was a early first round pick.

Which leads me into the third option I've considered for myself, which is just that I'm doing fine. 50 points is a pretty solid average in the NHL where you have an 82 game schedule. So for a schedule 10 games less, I can't really say that the average is bad. I'd say that I'm performing better than a lot of people would have thought I would at this point. My best season was my rookie season where I scored 74 points, however in that same season I had a +/- of -28 which is horrible. Overall I've just accepted that my numbers are where they need to be for a player in my shoes, I was a late 2nd round pick and I'm on the third line scoring 50 points a season for my team, I'd say that's pretty valuable.

In conclusion I feel as though this article could be good for some players in my shoes, not really happy with their players, or the numbers they're putting up. You don't have to be the superstar, or the face of the franchise, you just need to be good enough to help your team achieve what you all need to achieve. Because hockey is a team sport, and it takes more than fancy goals and high point totals to make a team a team.
