Banackock 8,141
GM Campbell Talks Playoffs After a season of ups and downs, the Seattle Bears once again find themselves competing for the Continental Cup. The regular season always seems to fly by before our eyes and without even being able to finish the blink, playoffs are here. In fact, everything seems to always fly by. We're in the second round of playoffs and counting down the W's before the finals are on the go. Then, without any warning, the floodgates are lifted and the off-season is underway. I think the only thing that can sometimes be painful is the wait for free agent discussions and then free agency to open up. Other than that, shit zooms in this league. For the Seattle Bears, they're pretty used to the zooming. This playoff stint marks the teams 10th playoff battle in a row since they made it all the way in Season 68 to defeat the Malmo Nighthawks and crown themselves champions. After going for so long, it's pleasantly surprising to the fans in Seattle that the team is able to compete at such a high level still. As the Bears battle their way through the third and final round before a potential 5th finals appearance in 10 seasons, we were able to sit down with the Bears GM before game's 3 and 4 to see what was on his mind. How did you feel about how the Bears ended the regular season? Well, it was a close finish but we were fortunate and lucky enough to make it into the top 3 and not have to play in the first round, aka, the wildcard round. Yes, it is playoffs too. The season was full of ups and downs and was a bit of a rollercoaster at times. Shit would go south, then we'd make some moves and we'd start flying. Then, randomly, shit would just start to fall apart again. The season overall though went well and the team was happy with where we finished. How did the second round go for you against Toronto? We won, so good. Being down 2-0 like that really scared the shit out of me. I wasn't too sure we would be able to claw back but after 29 seasons of being with the Bears, I knew it was also possible. It wasn't the first time we've been down and out. Season 68 we were down 2-0 to Toronto, clawed out way back and then won 12 straight to win the cup. There was another season where we were down 3-1 or something to Calgary and slowly made it all the way back, forced a game 7 and then sent them packing. We know how to do it, it's just shitty being in that position and having to fight back. When we took game 5 and had the 3-2 lead, I was feeling pretty good about where we were. When we had to resim, I for sure thought Simon was gonna fuck us. 5-2 series, though. And what about LA? I like to hold off before speaking on things that haven't quite been decided. Having the lead is nice but I know how quickly those can disappear, especially with STHS. Tomorrow is a big sim for all teams. We're excited. Everyone has been playing really well and things have been clicking. A large number of our guys have been scoring at a point per game and RARA has easily found himself a good form and is playing like the elite goalie we knew he'd be when we traded for him. We're ready. I'm always nervous but I think that comes naturally for a GM like myself who throws in as much effort, time and passion. I care a lot and want the best experience for my locker room, teammates and Seattle family. Fingers crossed that we play well. Go Bears Go!
