Game 310, Yukon Rush vs San Diego Marlins.

 

19:00 of 1st period - Gerald Lavoie wins face-off versus Aldwin Craig in Yukon Rush zone.
19:10 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Erlantz Jokinen for Goalie Interference.

 

Disgraceful moment in a game between two solid teams. Erlantz Jokinen, a defender decided to join the rush as Yukon managed to exit the zone after a faceoff win in their end. Nothing unusual, perhaps, but the way Erlantz moved towards the offensive zone caused many to speculate whether Jokinen intended to do anything else than run over the Marlins goalie Morgan Karlsson? Right away after Lavoie won the faceoff to Powers, Jokinen skated up.

 

He did not even look to see whether Powers was under pressure. Jokinen headed towards Karlsson and did not stop until Karlsson was inside the Marlins net, collecting his equipment. Jokinen was chased by multiple Marlins players, but he managed to escape to the penalty box. Two-minute minor for Goalie interference.  Luckily Karlsson was not injured. He was able to continue playing right away.

 

San Diego won the game 3-2. Jokinen took in a total of four minor penalties in the game. After the game, Jokinen refused to comment on the goalie interference penalty or anything else that happened in the game. He walked right past us and went to the dressing room.
