A rollercoaster ride for Luke Thornton this season for Luke Thornton.

Many new faces in Calgary, old Calgary Wranglers players being on the top of league and others retired early for whatever reason. His brother, Onde Sandstrom, has announced his sudden retirement from the Victory Hockey League and some news of a European hockey league.

Luke Thornton is officially in the top 3 in Calgary history for hits and he has been the quickest to do so. He should be second in history next season and he might take the number 1 spot if he decides to remain in Calgary for one more season. He did not quite hit 300 hits this season, but he has had some responsibilities taken off of his shoulders with other amazing players on the team.

Currently Thornton has 35 goals and he's only 5 away from hitting 40 goals for the first time in his career and he is well above a point per game. It was not an easy feat to do since he has been involved in many many line changes to get other people rolling on the team. Despite the lack of ice time that he could easily get on any other team for even more points, he is leading the team with 77 points. First time in his career with the Wranglers somehow.

The captain has also taken a big step forward defensively, being aware of how shitty he was the last 2 season combining a -27, but this season he is a +19. He believes this is an improvement that might make a difference this time in the playoff where the play slows down 10x more than normal and that scoring is 100x times harder.

In conclusion, Thornton is happy with his season and he hopes he can finally make some noise in the playoff for the first time in his career
