HOUSTON - It was just an ordinary day for Sigard Petrenko. Game day practice, followed by the obligatory game day nap, followed by the actual game. He was ready to get out there and do whatever he needed to do to help this team win. Playing alongside his linemates John Baard and John Williams, he was determined to score a goal or at least assist on one to help his team beat the Mexico City Kings in Game 354 of the Victory Hockey League Minors season.

Sigard was able to accomplish his goal and then some. The young Russian winger was able to get his first Victory Hockey League Minors hat trick against the Mexico City Kings. The Mexico City Kings were up 2-0 at the end of the first period. After Carson Frost scored in the second order to cut the Mexico City Kings’ lead to one, making it 2-1, Sigard Petrenko scored to tie the game. John Baard and John Williams assisted on that goal. Later, Sigard scored his second goal of the game, with John Williams assisting that one. Then in the third, Sigard scored the hat trick goal with John Baard assisting.

“I simply put the puck in the net. Both of the Johns made excellent plays and passes. I shot the puck the best I could and three of my shots went in. What more can I say?” He said with a smile. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”

There were some complaints about his excessive celebrations to which he replied, “Well, puck in net feel good. Why shouldn’t I celebrate hard?”
