Reign's Hlozek Spotted With Eye Injury After Night of Partying to Mark Season's End

The Riga Reign crashed out of the S78 playoff race in devastating fashion following their shock defeat to the Moscow Menace on the final game of the season, and as the players tidy away their gear for the offseason and look ahead to their next campaign, rookie defenseman Jan Hlozek went out in style.

 

Despite the defeat, the young Czech blueliner was snapped at the Radisson Hotel's Sky Bar in central Riga, partying until 5am before being snapped leaving the venue with friends.

 

Eyewitnesses said that Hlozek looked worse for wear, his sunglasses half hanging off his face and sporting a cut underneath his right eye.

 

Media representatives at the Riga Reign could not be reached for comment to confirm or deny whether Hlozek received his facial injury during the game against Moscow, or whether the laceration was the result of the night's partying.

 

Hlozek was later spotted boarding an AirBaltic flight from Riga airport at roughly 5pm the following day. The flight was bound for the Czech capital, Prague.

 

The defenseman, who registered 50 points in his rookie VHL season, has previously said that he would be going back to his hometown of Topolna to conduct his summer on- and off-ice training there.
