This is just an issue that I’ve been thinking about since creating Nils. I understand why the two-way forward award is the way it is, but it is a little disappointing as someone who doesn’t plan to be a huge power forward. With Nils, I am aiming to make a Bergeron type player, so I will prioritize DF, PH, FO and ST a bit more than most players. While these stats should help defensively in STHS, there is still not much to prove that as a fact.

If I wanted to be the VHL’s top two-way forward, I would need to get my checking up to 80 and spend a ton of time in the box. I get that hits are a sign of takeaways, so it makes sense to a degree. However, I think stuff like PK time and faceoff percentage should be factored in a bit more as well, since the award is basically top power forward as it stands. However, that would be changing the precedent that has been kept up for so many seasons, so I understand why that wouldn’t be an easy change to make.

Anyway, individual awards aren’t a huge deal to me so I won’t complain. I’ll always be the #1 defensive forward in my heart lol
