Devise 4,475
Welp I took a look at this when the season started as Sven was pacing pretty poorly and he picked up a little bit (for half a minute) before the fire blew out of his offense. Stacked team, minutes sure, but the top top minutes still go to better players, how it is modern VHL era I get it. Either way, some forum searching got me to dig around and find exact stat breakdowns for Logan's tenure to see exactly how Sven fared. Note that Laich was a high scoring (build wise) power forward who despite switching to D and having respectable stats only had 32 points in his career after two full VHL seasons. Yes I'm not joking. He was a very high scoring build and I decided to say "fuck skating" at the time, which failed miserably. It's why I love to use him as a comparison for suckery. Anyways stats! Sven: S78(LDN) 72GP | 5G - 8A - 13P | - | SHT | GWG | PIM | 3 HIT | SB Laich: S37(NYA) 72GP | 6G - 6A - 12P | -6 | 125 SHT | 2 GWG | 134 PIM | 321 HIT | 31 SB On the surface, very similar first season. High expectation player, Laich was drafted 4th by NY, and really kind of a dud of a season offensively in both cases. I think Sven probably has more of an excuse given the era and his position, so he probably did perform better than Laich. I should probably be happy that regardless of London being a competitive team my idea to do low PIMs (wound up none) with a high SB defender was able to actually yield something. It's a decent SB total on a team that was 2nd in the conference being honest. Perhaps with more minutes Sven has a chance, and unlike Logan he isn't exactly hurting in terms of skating. But there is no denying the connection between the two players, Sven BARELY scraped better points wise than Logan did and was kind of a passenger type player for most of this season. We'll see how sophomore season goes but thus far, because of the decently high PIM count, worse +/- and the fact that he only scored one more goal as a high scoring forward, Sven as a D had a better rookie season than Laich. It's pretty hard to compare hits to SB though because I feel like both is instances of the other side of the players doing as they are supposed too.
