4 Strikes, You're Out! - Sigard Petrenko on the sweep

Recommended Posts

HOUSTON - After beating the Halifax 21st, the Houston Bulls were feeling good. They won in overtime in an exhilarating game 7 against the 21st and looked to carry on that energy to the next round. However, sometimes the hockey gods decide to stop smiling on you and things don’t go well. Despite hard-fought battles against the Minnesota Storm, the Houston Bulls were ousted by the Storm in a sweep. From a 7 game series win to a sweep, it doesn’t get more surprising than that.

A shocked Sigard Petrenko was found sitting in the locker room afterward, a look of disappointment still fresh on his face. “Yeah, we were definitely shocked. Of course, we didn’t even expect to have a playoff run but there’s always that what-if moment when we begin to imagine ourselves pushing to the top. We tried the best we could and everybody was excellent but it wasn’t our series. I definitely could have been better. It’s a tough way to go out but… it is what it is. You win some, you lose some. Just gotta use the losses as motivation to win next time.”

It was a short but fun run for the Houston Bulls. And maybe there were some lessons learned along the way for the young core of this team. But all that matters right now is that the Houston Bulls are out of the playoffs.
