Greg_Di 1,028
We caught out with Tom Eagles for his annual interview right before the season is ready to go. We are happy to bring another installment of this exclusive interview. Today we discussed Tom's goals for the season, How the Wranglers will do and a few other things. Let's get this interview started. R: Hi Tom, once again thanks for taking the time to meet with us and do this annual interview. I know you have a lot going on as you prepare for the first game tonight. T: No problem, always happy to do these as I know the fans love it. R: First, lets talk about the World Cup and how that went for you?T: It was definitely a disappointing tournament for me and the Mercs. I didn't play very well and I guess that could just be to some off-season rustiness and the team didn't finish with a medal which was very disappointing. We will be back stronger then ever though for the next World Cup. R: Do you think how you played in the WC will carryover to the first few regular season games?T: I hope not! I put in extra work this off-season to get better and help out the Wranglers. If I get off to a bad start, I guess that would play mind games with me and could effect how the rest of my season goes. R: What are your goals for the upcoming season?T: I am definitely looking at being at least in consideration for a majority of the defensive awards this year. I have worked very hard on my game. In terms of production, I won't be satisfied unless I hit the 80+ point mark this season. I regressed a little last season and now its time for me to step it up. R: What about the Wranglers goals and what has management been saying?T: For the players its cup or bust, that is how we are feeling. We believe in our roster and know we are a contender this year. Management definitely things the same, they support this core group of players and our giving us a chance to prove that we can win with this group. It's definitely an exciting time to be a Wrangler. R: You did some charity work with hospitals while you were in Poland during the off-season, will you bring that work over to Calgary as well?T: Definitely! Charity work is something I believe in and within the next couple years I will be expanding my work to Calgary. We are currently looking into which Hospitals will be interested in participating and I am also hoping to get some Wranglers onboard as well. Stay tuned for more information. R: This will be your 4th season with the Wranglers and you have not been given a C or A yet, thought on that?T: The team votes on who our C's and A's will be and I believe we have an excellent leadership group for this season. They all deserved it. As for me, I don't mind not being selected. I think it puts a bit of pressure on the player and after last season I just need to focus on my game. Plus with Greg Eagles as an AGM, I don't think you want too many Eagles in a leadership position! R: We have time for one final question, where do you think Calgary will finish in the standings this year?T: I believe we will finish in the top 2 in the NA conference. This is our window to win! R: Thank you Tom for your time and best of luck this season Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/106273-eagles-season-interview/ Share on other sites
