“Sometimes things are not great, but decent enough that you are still happy. I guess that is the most fitting description of my current situation.” This was Maksim Yakolevskys answer, when a reporter recently asked him about the state of the D.C. Dragons. Yakolevsky, who had arrived more than two seasons ago,  had helped the team to the VHL playoffs during Season 78, continuing on his solid, but not head turning performances in the major league. But throughout the offseason it became apparent, that his best days were already past him. Maksim looked tired throughout the training camp and further reinforced this impression so far this season. “You know, I have played this game since I was 8 years old and always saw me playing it for at least 25 years. But my years in the professional scene are starting to mount and so does the toll on my body. I have tried my best to preserve my health, but in the end we are putting in a an insane workload to get to this level and maintain it for a while. Lets see how far I might be able to push it before my body starts to fall apart.”
