Houston, TX -- The Houston Bulls came into this season with playoff aspirations, fresh off last year’s first round upset of Halifax. More than a quarter of the way into the season, though, things clearly aren’t going the way management expected. The Bulls sit at just 10 points through 20 games – good for dead last in the VHLM, and 7 points out of a playoff spot even at this early going.

For the team’s goaltender Xavier Booberry, it’s a source of frustration. Booberry currently sits third among starting VHLM goalies with a .904 save percentage, and he’s even fifth in GAA at 3.15. The team’s 40 goals on offense, though, are 16 less than any other VHLM team.

“I mean, when you only have 7 active players, and only three forwards actually showing up to practice, what can you do?” Booberry said. “I wish the situation were different, but right now, it is what it is.”

Could we see Booberry ask the team for a trade? He was tight-lipped about the possibility. His response did give some insight into his thinking, however.

“I only plan on having one season in the VHLM. It doesn’t behoove Houston to try and wait for next season with me, obviously. So if they’re able to get a pick for me, that would seem to be in the best interest of the team, right?”
