The Red Menace Has His First Shutout

     In an awesome first three games The Red Menace has gone 2-1 with a .899 SV%, and a 2.34 GAA, but most importantly he had his first career shutout against the Las Vegas Aces. In this thrilling game the The Red Menace showed just why he was the greatest goalie prospect to come out of the motherland in history. The Red Menace faced a total of twenty two shots and allowed ZERO goals. The Red Menace faced his first shot of the game at 8:03 of the first period from a shot by Mats Zucarello, a shot that went glove side and was quickly caught and frozen by the Russian prodigy. Later in the game a cross crease pass Taylor Carter shoots at a nearly open net, however The Red Menace was able to get his blocker over and save the nearly empty net goal, allowing a rebound that was shot by V Slice and stopped once more by Menace. Vegas has a few more chances missing the net, but the puck was iced shortly after. 

 

     The second period was equally as exciting with many more chances by vegas to bring the game back. After the first period Philly was up 2-0, and Vegas was looking like they wanted to tie the game up. At 0:20 in the second period The Red Menace was forced to make a huge save on Zdeno Chara, and the rebound was iced shortly after. at 2:26 Chicken Nugget shoots the puck and it's deflected by Tyler Reaves but saved by the glove hand of Menace, who did not seem so keen on allowing a goal at all this game. The next shot that Menace allowed was at 19:03 who came with an excellent diving save to stop a beautiful chance by Mats Zucarello, and allowed no rebound off the shot. 

 

     The third period was one where Philly really gained a larger lead allowing The Red Menace to really play more comfortable, and loose. The Menace stops another shot from Zdeno Chara at 0:24 of the third, and Vegas draws a penalty allowing them to go on the power play, and this is where the action got more intense for Menace. Vegas won the faceoff and skates it around the zone setting up an umbrella style PP, and at 1:04 Chicken Nugget shoots gloveside and is swallowed up by The Red Menace. Taylor Carter went glove side against the young Russian and once again was held onto by Menace for a stoppage of play. Chicken Nugget then rips a massive slapshot that is once again deflected away by Menace with his stick, and ince again Nugget picks up the rebound and takes a shot that is deflected by Bill Nye, and is once again stopped by Menace who holds on to stop play. The rest of the period once again looks just like this, and Menace just doesn't let anything past him lifting Philly to another Victory which was their 12th in a row at the time. 

 

     As you can see this shutout was the first of many to come as The Red Menace gets more comfortable in the hardest minor league in the world. This is a challenge that the young goal keeper has yet to see in all his years in Russia and yet he still stands tall and answers the challenge. This is the beginning of a very long and tenured career for the young goalie, and I hope it's one put in the record book. Have a wonderful evening and I'll see you next week.
