CowboyinAmerica 2,918
Xavier Booberry Traded to San Diego Marlins San Diego, Calif. -- Minnesota-born goaltender Xavier Booberry hadn’t known a VHLM home outside of Houston. Plucked off of waivers by the Bulls last season then taken by the team with the 6th pick in the VHLM Draft, Booberry had settled into the team nicely and was expecting big things this year. But the season in Houston didn’t go as planned, and now, Booberry’s packing up his things to a new home. In the midst of a firesale that saw the 11th-place Bulls ship off every single one of their players, Houston traded Booberry to the San Diego Marlins for a future third and fourth round pick. There, Booberry joins Wranglers draftee Elijah Mikaelson in the team’s goalie rotation, where Booberry will still nominally be the starter but will split games. Interestingly, Booberry joins a team in San Diego that sits much in the same spot as the Houston team he’s leaving behind: near the bottom of the standings. But even so, Booberry sees the team’s recent aggressive moves as a positive sign moving forward. “This is a team actively looking to get better, and I’m happy I can be here to help out,” Booberry said soon after the trade was finalized. “I’ve had conversations with the front office, and I like where I’m at here. Now, it’s time to turn this season around and win some games. And if we’re able to sneak into the playoffs: you better watch out.” Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/106851-off-to-san-diego/ Share on other sites
